The main scientific direction of the Institute of Volcanic Geology and Geochemistry:

-         volcanism and geodynamic of north-western sector of the Pacific Mobile Belt (PMB),

-          complex geology-geophysical study of modern and palaeovolcanic processes,

-         the role of volcanism in the genesis of the transition zone history, deep structure, magma formation and fluid conditions,

-         the formations of the seismic and tectonic processes models,

-         natural catastrophe prognosis based on the periods of the volcanic and seismic activity in the genesis of Kurile-Kamchatka zone history and many others.
