WOVO at the IUGG
There will be a general meeting at the IUGG in Melbourne in June/July 2011 - date and time to be announced. The co-leader positions for Europe/Africa and Asia/Oceania will be declared vacant and nominations will be very welcome! Look also for the IAVCEI-IMAS symposium 'World Volcano Observatories (WOVO) and International Science' (JV01) on Saturday 2 July. In this symposium we continue the theme of the past few years of looking for examples of collaboration between volcano observatories and the wider world.
The WOVO mailing list
The mailing list has been reconsituted as a Google Groups mailing list and we are currently updating it. Please contact us if you think that as an observatory leader or other appropriate person you should be on the list but you haven't heard from us.
The International Volcanic Ash Task Force
Following the events of 2010, the International Civil Aviation Organization invited WOVO to contribute a representative to their International Volcanic Ash Task Force (IVATF). Professor Chris Newhall kindly agreed to be the WOVO representative, with Peter Webley as his deputy. Chris and Peter are currently preparing for the second IVATF meeting in Montreal in July - you will hear from them separately.
