We develop new methods to study the properties of galaxy redshift surveys and radial peculiar velocity surveys, both individually and combined. We derive the Fisher information matrix for redshift surveys, including redshift distortions and stochastic bias. We find exact results for estimating the marginalized accuracy of a two-parameter measurement of the amplitude of galaxy clustering, Ag, and the distortion parameter, β. The Fisher matrix is also derived for a radial peculiar velocity survey… Expand

Low redshift surveys of galaxy peculiar velocities provide a wealth of cosmological information. We revisit the idea of extracting this information by directly measuring the redshift-space momentum… Expand

The 6dF Galaxy Survey: final redshift release (DR3) and southern large-scale structures

- Physics

We report the final redshift release of the 6dF Galaxy Survey (6dFGS), a combined redshift and peculiar velocity survey over the southern sky (|b| > 10°). Its 136 304 spectra have yielded 110 256 new… Expand

The 6dF Galaxy Survey (6dFGS) aims to measure the redshifts of around 150 000 galaxies, and the peculiar velocities of a 15 000-member subsample, over almost the entire southern sky. When complete,… Expand
